Exhibition of works by photographer Julien Guinand and visual artist Rachel Poignant at the Chambéry Museum of Fine Arts.

Attracted to Japan by the culture of Zen, Julien Guinand discovered during a first stay two mountain ranges altered by human activities: intensive forest cultivation in Kumano, mining in Ashio caused or amplified disasters, also triggering the first battles ecologists. As a photographer, he was first interested in the most visible effects, to gradually gain access to the underlying processes.

Her images cover a broad descriptive register, in color and in black & white: landscapes, urban views, portraits, scenes of daily life... Rachel Poignant's casts contrast the exploratory work of material with (un)productive reason. In the landscape or in the studio, every form is the result of a process of formation. The meeting of the two artists questions the relationship between geographical scale and individual activity, collective projections and close arrangements.
