With vivid colors and cinematic excesses of palpable light, Lucile Boiron’s photographs confront viewers with the painful intimacy of the photographic process. Boiron captures her images when the space between photographer and subject—a woman’s body, a rotting piece of fruit—is least tangible. She isolates and excises unguarded micro-moments with surgical precision and then grafts them back onto reality to provoke broader considerations of birth, decay, life, and death.
