Biography
New director and resident choreographer, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, wants to mark the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève with a resolutely contemporary style. The Ballet's new productions blend dance with live music, spoken and sung word, the visual arts and haute couture. Associate artist Damien Jalet brings his expertise and 23 dancers from all over the world their cultural diversity. Ballet de Genève collaborates with other renowned choreographers and is developing in three directions: new productions in Geneva, international tours to raise the profile of the company and partnerships with other cultural institutions in Geneva. One guest performance per season enriches the programme.
