Marina Caneve (b. 1988) is an Italian artist-photographer whose work explores major environmental, social and cultural changes. In December 2024, Marina Caneve will hold her first solo exhibition in France at CAP.
The photographs presented in the show are from her recent project On the ground among the animals corpus, inspired by Natura 2000, a network of ecological corridors for the preservation of biodiversity promoted by the European Union. Through her photographic essay, Caneve intertwines the infrastructures built to protect wild animals with the videos generated by surveillance cameras and images of nature conservation areas. Marina Caneve addresses key subjects such as migration and freedom of movement, the conservation of ecosystems and, ultimately, the possibility of rethinking the role of humans in the world.
Marina Caneve was the recipient of the Italian Council Grant in 2023 with her project On the ground among the animals and benefited from a research residency at CAP Centre d’art in October 2023, with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute – Lyon.
The exhibition features new productions especially conceived for the Art Center as well as a selection of works from the On the ground among the animals, which was first presented at FMAV - Fondation Modena Arti visive (Modena, Italy) in June 2024.
