A mixture of documentary and fiction, Sarah del Pino’s piece explores the fragility of the ways we house ourselves and construct buildings. The artist developed a video installation on asbestos, a group of minerals that for a long time were extracted and used by humans and are now being buried in the ground and sometimes recycled. She also introduces this material in a physical form through vitrified asbestos waste (Colafit). By filming the rock in the quarries and factories, particularly those of Fagor, Sarah del Pino evokes the phenomena of contamination and the mechanisms of human exploitation. While bringing a note of hope and resilience, Amosite invites the public to question the presence of asbestos within the Fagor factories.
