What if there was a mineral sexuality? David Wahl and Olivier de Sagazan immerse themselves in this theory fully dressed, for a performance mixing philosophy and clay.
We knew the sexuality of plants, very practical to evoke that of humans with young children, but who suspected
the existence of a sexuality of stones?
Louis XIV's anatomist, Pierre Borel, foresaw it in a century when those who considered the Earth as inert and those who saw it as a living organism were opposed. Drawing on an approach combining scientific research and dramaturgical writing, David Wahl recounts all these fascinating theories on stage. But he does not come alone. Olivier de Sagazan, trained in biology and the arts, both visual artist and performer, stands by his side, with his buckets of clay and his baskets of wild grass.
"If you manage to mix the words with the earth, then extraordinary things can happen," whispers David to Olivier. The latter, drunk with stories and mud, begins to shape viscous masks and a costume of clay and foliage. Like two merging Golems, the artists then embody a new form of life, mineral and cerebral, singing a hymn to an Earth that is more fertile than ever. Created at the Avignon Festival in 2021, this show has not finished sowing seeds behind it.
