From pigsties to radioactive waste, David Wahl sets foot in the waste of Earthlings, with many historical anecdotes and scientific facts. But also humor and a touch of provocation.
When he prepares one of his monologues, which he calls a "chat", David Wahl immerses himself in the subject of his research, whether literary, historical or scientific. He collects stories, is interested in little-known discoveries, confronts difficult concepts. Then he weaves links between science and arts, which are often distended while these two fields of research have many points of attachment. From there is then born a discourse which is not intended to be a simple popularization of complex facts, but rather a philosophical poem or an erudite tale. This time, the speech will be “dirty”.
Because David Wahl, artist associated with Océanopolis Brest, National Center for Scientific Culture dedicated to the ocean, looks into the question of waste, garbage, excrement. It will be about pigs, urine, foul odors. But also radioactive waste, these symbolic remnants of human progress, which will rot the planet for thousands of years. Over the course of this short History of Man's trash cans, told from the back kitchens of laboratories, David Wahl raises an acute ecological awareness, with humor but great seriousness.
