THE LOST DREAM
AFGHAN GIRLS THEATER GROUP
December 2014, a teenager commits a suicide attack on the stage of the French Institute in Kabul. For Naim Karimi, present that day, it is a trauma. He will then devote his time to the animation of workshops of artistic practices which will lead to the foundation of the Afghan Girls Theater Group, an exclusively female company, representative of the dreams and hopes of a generation which loves its country and wants to bring his mutation. And then comes the hasty time of the return to power of the Taliban, the choices to be made urgently, the flight from the draconian regime, the multiple evacuation attempts and finally the arrival in France. This lost dream, but which we pursue. This dream which is no longer quite the same here as there. How to resume the interrupted story? Perhaps simply by the direct speaking of these young modern Afghan women, their stories, their visions and their struggles.
The troupe is hosted in Lyon and Villeurbanne by the TNG and the TNP with the support of the two municipalities.
ASSEMBLY OF REMEMBERING – FORGETTING
KUBRA KHADEMI
Bulletproof vests, boots, helmets, tires, bags of cement, litter the ground and surround the visual artist and performer Kubra Khademi. Invited to the Avignon festival in 2022, she is inspired for this new creation by the way in which the Taliban took control of Kabul, to the general surprise of the inhabitants of this country. An image produced by the simultaneous withdrawal of the greatest military power and the takeover of the country by the most radical militia. What kind of image is this? Opaque or scandalous? And how to succeed in moving from this image to another? Transform this space so that these objects no longer have the same meaning or the same use. This shocking living picture reflects the lightning political transformation of Afghanistan.
