Exhibition Aurelie Menaldo "As The World Falls Down"

Aurelie Menaldo's work questions the physical space in that it contains artifice and the superficial, playing with the everyday environment as a stage, using different mediums - drawing, photo, video , installation in the public space -. Her interventions offer a dissonant reading of reality. A tiny gap that redirects the gaze and brings out new landscapes with fictional potential. Through simple interventions in situ, the physical perception of spaces is often modified. She uses and reappropriates the materials offered by the place to blend into it and reveal it in a different, destabilizing, strange, poetic way.
Sculpture-furniture, structure-decor, references and points of attachment to reality intertwine to leave a feeling of discomfort. To get close and grasp them with your view, you have to accept to abandon the control to get into contact with the form, with "something" that address more the world of the imaginary than of the understanding.
Aurelie Menaldo seeks to create a tension between reality and chimera, evolving on the border which goes from the banal fabricated to the masked disenchantment, offering the viewer an almost similar universe but to observe from an offbeat angle. Interrogating in particular the notion of fakes which aim to create fake impressions, her work wishes to open a space of evolving dialogue and negotiation with the transient and vain nature of human life.
